THE RED DRAGON by Tianna Xander
Dragon Bound # 8
What’s an older woman do when a handsome dragon decides she’s his? She goes with it.
Emily is seventy-six years old. It's a good thing she looks and feels as though she's only sixty. Otherwise, she might have had a stroke when she visits the site of her love’s resting place. She thinks he's dead. She definitely doesn’t expect him to rise from the ground in dragon form and carry her off as though she's some sacrificial virgin.
Whatever she imagined she would find in Scotland, it certainly wasn’t an adventure with a handsome dragon who had chosen to age with her, a well-kept secret revealed, and a new life as an ancient dragon’s most treasured possession.

Emily slid from the back of the limousine and stretched. Her old bones didn’t take long trips well anymore. This trip was the longest she’d been on in years. Her doctor would probably have a cow if he found out she went to Europe. At least she wasn’t alone. Her friend, Summer, and her significant other accompanied her, along with two of Summer’s sisters and their husbands.
She stared up at the large castle that loomed before them. Thick ropes of ivy grew over the stone walls, moss grew along the northern side, and it looked as though it had seen better days.
Was this Declan’s house? She didn’t expect him to have neglected his home so thoroughly. Had he really come here when she rejected him? If he had, did he come here to die, or to hole up in the lair she knew all dragon males possessed? Whatever the case, she had to find him. She had to tell him she was sorry she had wasted their lives, their chance at happiness. Her eyes filled with tears when she thought of the loneliness he must have felt all the long centuries he’d lived.
Closing her eyes, she hummed the song he’d taught her. She always felt closer to him with the melody in her mind. He had told her the song was one his mother sang to him when he was young.
After a moment, a strange feeling pulled her, tugged her to her left. Ignoring her companions, Emily opened her eyes and began to walk.
She was about halfway between the neglected castle and a steep cliff when she stopped and looked down. At her feet was a large round stone, shaped like a giant seal with odd-looking letters carved into its surface.
Lowering herself to her aching knees, she reached out, slowly removing the weeds and thick heather that had tried to hide it.
“I wish I knew what it says.” She glanced up at her entourage. Tears filled her eyes and slid down her cheeks. Something told her this was where Declan had gone all those years ago, after she rejected him. She stared down at the stone that must have been his grave marker and willed herself not to cry for her lost love. “He’s in there, isn’t he?”
She didn’t want anyone to tell her that he was gone, that she was too late to tell him she was sorry. Still, she needed an answer. She needed closure.
Adrian, Summer’s dragon mate, bent down and rested his hands on his knees. He frowned at the beautiful script before reading it aloud. “Here lies the Red Dragon, red for the rubies he guards and for the passion he holds for his one true mate.”
Emily grasped the center of her chest. The pain would have brought her to her knees if she hadn’t already knelt down upon them. She bent over, sobbing onto the stone that covered the body of the only man she had ever loved.
Her sobs only grew worse when he continued. “Open only if you wish to experience the wrath of Declan Brus. Here he shall remain, resting forever.”
“Okay. I could be wrong, but doesn’t that sound like he’s still alive in there?” Summer’s sister, May moved around the outside of the stone, her mate, Damek, always hovering close.
They didn’t know. They couldn’t feel the deep, heart-wrenching loss she felt at Declan’s absence. Emily had stopped feeling their connection long ago. Then, she had been certain he had found another. Nothing had prepared her to find out that he had willed himself to die. Alone. Like all dragons without a mate, he was always alone.
“It sounds that way to me,” Summer said as she made a circuit around the large, beautifully carved stone. “So, how do we open it?”
What would be the point? Emily wanted to scream at them all. Why bother? They were too late. She was too late. He was dead, which was the only explanation she could think of for why he was buried beneath the earth and his once beautiful castle falling to pieces.
“I don’t know. It is likely that there is something in the castle, but until we can legally get inside, we won’t know anything.” Adrian straightened and stared at the stone structure, standing so forlorn and forgotten. “Do you think there is a caretaker here?” He frowned toward the castle. “If there is, he hasn’t been doing his job keeping the structure in good repair.
“If there isn’t, someone has to be paying the rates and taxes. Otherwise, the government would have seized and sold it by now. I would hypothesize that Declan has someone watching over his home while he’s in mourning.” Damek turned to look at her. “Though you are still with us, he mourns your loss.”
He mourned the loss of his mate and willed himself to die. He was buried here, deep in the ground, and she was too late to tell him she was sorry. Emily buried her head in her hands and sobbed again. Why had she turned him down all those years ago? Why hadn’t she trusted him to love her the way he claimed he did?
The others spoke around her. She was certain that something important was going on around her, but she didn’t care. How could she care when her mate had given up on living because she had rejected him so many years before?
Her heart broke all over again as she knelt atop his grave and cried for all the things that could have been, if only she had been brave enough to love a dragon.

THE ADVENTURES OF MAX DAILY by Alex J. Alex
THE ADVENTURES OF MAX DAILY by Alex J. Alex
Max, a young hunk who has very little experience with women, gets out of the Marine Corps in 1968 and finds out his girlfriend has gotten married and moved away. He jumps in his old convertible and heads west to see the country.
It seems that everywhere he goes he runs into fascinating--and sexy--women who fall all over him, from a ski bunny with two broken legs to a well-preserved bordello madam. From joining the mile High Club to starring in a triple-X movie, Max's sexual experiences are not only plentiful, but original and entertaining as well.
Come along for the ride, and keep the top down.
Excerpt:
Then, she appeared. She was carrying a large cloth bag.
“Oh, a red convertible.”
“Yeah. I just love to ride around with the top down.”
“How old is this car?” she asked as she ran her hand along the fender.
“It’s a 1954 Lincoln. It weighs about three tons and it’s faster than it looks.”
“Ooo, good. I like to go fast.” She hefted the bag. “Could I put this in the trunk?”
“Sure.” He opened the trunk and she threw the bag in. It looked like a laundry bag that Max had had when he was in the Marines.
“Dirty underwear?” he asked
She gave him a smoky look and leaned against him, putting her arm around him and tiptoeing up to whisper, “I don’t wear any underwear.” She squeezed his buttocks, then slapped his butt. “Let’s go,” she said with a laugh, and she skipped around to the passenger side and got in.
Max hadn’t seen many women where he had been stationed for the past year, especially round eyes. This hitchhiker was almost more than he knew what to do with. The girls he remembered from before he had enlisted certainly hadn’t been as forward as this. A lot must have changed since he had left for Okinawa in 1965. He knew that there was a lot of anti-war sentiment, and that there were folks called flower children whose slogan was “Make Love, Not War”. He was beginning to think that he was linking up with one of them, and wasn’t too sure how to take it.
He was proud of his service in Viet Nam. The few Vietnamese he had met had been friendly even though they were awfully poor. They seemed to be pretty much indifferent to the war, but they treated U.S. servicemen with respect and friendship. He had heard that it was different down South in the delta, but North of Hue there was a conventional war going on between the North Vietnamese army and the U.S. Third Marine Division.
He got in the car, pumped the gas pedal once, turned the key, and pressed the starter button. The big V-8 roared to life with a healthy rumble. He put it in Drive, released the brake, and headed out onto the highway. The four-speed hydramatic shifted flawlessly as the big Lincoln shot down the acceleration ramp and merged with the westbound traffic. What a beautiful day for a ride.
“I like this car,” said Anita, her hair streaming in the wind. “I might even get a little tan.”
“You don’t look like you’ve been in the sun very much yet this summer.”
“You don’t get much sun in The Village.”
“The Village?”
“Greenwich Village. In New York.”
“Oh. Are you a Beatnik?”
“Sort of. They call us Hippies now.”
“I was a Beatnik for a while, before I joined the Corps. I still carry around a copy of On The Road by Jack Kerouak. I even took it to Viet Nam with me. It’s in the glove compartment.”
“Were you a Marine?” she asked with a wide-eyed expression on her face. “You do look like you could be a killer. I don’t think much of the war. I don’t think much of anybody killing anyone else.”
“Listen, my old neighborhood in Newark is a lot more dangerous than Viet Nam was. I had a nice safe bunker to live in over there. At home, you never know who might shoot you or stab you in the alley and there seems to be more dope on the streets than I ever saw in Viet Nam.”
Neither of them spoke for a moment.
“Who cares? Let’s just live for the moment. I don’t care who you are or what you did. I just want to snuggle up to you.”
With that, she slid across the bench seat and leaned against him. Max put his arm around her. She was warm and soft. She licked his neck.
“What was that for?”
“Did you like it?”
He looked down at her and grinned. She snuggled closer. Then she took his right hand, slipped it under her arm and placed it on her breast. Max could tell that she hadn’t been lying about not wearing underwear--at least she apparently wasn’t wearing a bra. Her nipple was hard.
“How long has it been since you had a woman?”
“Oh, a red convertible.”

TWO SHADES OF SEDUCTION by Monica Burns
TWO SHADES OF SEDUCTION by Monica Burns

Two steamy full-length stories featuring two men skilled in the ways of seduction and two older heroines strong enough to resist them.
LOVE'S PORTRAIT
When Julia Westgard commissions a nude portrait of herself, the painting is much more than a rebellious act. It’s an attempt to regain her self-worth after years of a loveless, repressive marriage to her late husband. But the private portrait puts her directly in the path of Morgan St. Claire, one of the Marlborough Set’s most notorious seducers. A man who doesn’t take no for an answer.
From the first moment Morgan sees Julia’s portrait, he’s determined to have her. But the woman he meets is a far cry from the image on canvas. What starts out as a simple exercise in seduction quickly evolves into a quest to reveal the true Julia. With each sensual encounter, he employs every erotic weapon at his disposal in hopes of making Julia see she really is the woman in Love's Portrait.
LOVE'S REVENGE
When Quentin Blackwell, Earl of Devlyn, discovered his fiancée had betrayed him, he broke their engagement. In retaliation, her father ruined Devlyn. When Sophie Hamilton, his ex-fiancée’s older sister comes to him with an unexpected offer, Quentin seizes the chance for vengeance. What he doesn't bargain on is how revenge could cost him the one thing he wants the most. Sophie's love.
All her life, Sophie's tried to earn her father's love to no avail. Even her one chance for happiness was crushed beneath his tyrannical thumb, leaving her firmly on the shelf at forty-one. Sophie accepts her fate until she impulsively uses her father's illicit activities to escape a life of servitude and righting a wrong at the same time. But she never really expected the Devil of Devlyn to actually accept her rash proposal, and she certainly hadn’t planned on falling in love with a younger man.

Excerpts:
Beneath his gaze, Morgan saw the pulse in the side of Julia’s neck flutter. The delicate movement indicated she was aware of his stare, and from the rigid set of her shoulders to the way her fingers curled around the stem of her wine glass, her tension was plain to see. He liked knowing he unsettled her. It meant she wasn’t immune to him.
He stared at her lips for a long, drawn out moment. It was a tempting mouth. The wine had stained her lips a dark red, and a sudden urge to taste her latched onto him with all the force of a charging bull. He fought the desire clamping down on every inch of his body as he watched her take a bite of her salmon. Despite her attempt to present a calm composure, he knew she was anything but.
“You seem distracted, Mrs. Westgard.” He bit back a smile as she quickly looked away from him.
“Do I?” There was a catch in her voice before she regained that serene composure she’d consistently presented him with since their first meeting. “Forgive me. I’m simply savoring this delicious salmon. The hotel’s chef has outdone himself. Do you suppose he would send me the recipe?”
“Actually I have a personal chef who prepares all my meals, and I’m afraid Henri refuses to share his secrets.” He deliberately paused and offered her a secretive smile. “Even with me.”
“What a pity.” She took another bite of her dinner, and his gut tightened as he watched her mouth and suddenly wished they were alone. Her throat flexed slightly as she swallowed. “This salmon is a dish I could eat quite often.”
“Then come back for dinner again, next week,” he said as he leaned toward her, his voice dropping a level so that his invitation reached only her ears. The startled expression on her face made him smile, and he saw her hand tremble as she quickly laid down her fork.
“I think that would be unwise. One should never mix business with pleasure.”
He bit down on the inside of his mouth at having his own rule thrown back in his face. She was right, but it was too late to go back now.
“Perhaps.” He reclined back into his chair and lifted one shoulder in a shrug. “Although I’m sure it would be quite—pleasurable.”
She immediately took another drink of her wine, this time more a gulp than a sip. If possible, her confusion made her even more beautiful. What would she be like tipsy? Relaxed and uninhibited with no barriers between them. He liked the idea.
“I’m glad to see that my Bordeaux is to your liking.” He grinned as a pink flush crested in her cheeks. She shot him a baleful look, which only made him chuckle as he lowered his voice even more. “You blush quite charmingly, Julia.”
“I don’t recall giving you permission to call me by my given name.” Her back ramrod straight, she attempted to stare him down with a haughty expression. It did little good, and he flashed another wicked smile in her direction.
“No? Forgive me, I thought you had.”
There was nothing remotely apologetic in his response, and they both knew it. She toyed with the necklace at the base of her throat before she tightened her mouth and met his gaze directly.
“Well, I didn’t, and I prefer to keep our relationship strictly a business one.”
“And if I don’t?” he challenged with a smile.
Dashing through the steady rain, she hurried into the hut. Although the interior was relatively clean, it was dark and lonely. She quickly removed her clothing down to her damp combination and drawers. Rubbing her hands up and down her arms in an effort to stay warm, she hurried to the fireplace.
The sight of a small stack of firewood and kindling next to the stone hearth made her sigh with relief. Now all she needed was a piece of flint. In the near darkness, she ran her hand along the mantle in search of a flint box. At the same moment her fingers grasped the starter, a loud crack split the air as the hut door flew open.
With a scream of surprise, she whirled around to see a dark figure in the doorway. Frightened, she stumbled backward until the fireplace’s stone mantle pressed painfully into the back of her neck. Lightning flashed outside, and the brief flicker of light revealed a familiar scarred face. Weak-kneed, she clutched at the mantle to steady herself.
“Quentin,” she breathed with relief.
“Damn it to hell, Sophie, what in god’s name were you thinking to come out in this kind of weather.”
Without looking at her, Quentin closed the door behind him. Still shaken, she swallowed her fright as she watched him remove his overcoat. He shook the garment out then hung it on a hook close to the door. When he turned to face her, she could just make out the harsh lines of his face. A low growl rumbled out of him as he closed the distance between them and grasped her shivering shoulders. The moment he touched her, he grew still as a statute.
“Christ Jesus,” he choked out in a strained voice. “You’re soaked through.”
“Of course…I’m…soaked…it’s rain…raining.” She tried to sound amused, but her chattering teeth made her attempt an abysmal failure.
At her chattering response, Quentin frowned darkly. Whipping off his jacket, he covered her bare shoulders with it. The garment was relatively dry, and the warmth of it eased most of her discomfort immediately.
“Why the devil didn’t you stay at home?” he asked as he roughly rubbed her shoulders and arms in an attempt to warm her. “I would have thought you had more sense than to come out in this type of weather.”
“It wasn’t…wasn’t rain…raining….when I …left home,” she said between her chattering teeth. “And I could…could say the same to you.”
“I was at a nearby tenant’s farm, and came just to reassure myself that you weren’t mad enough to ride out in this weather.”
“Oh,” she said. The fact that he’d wanted to make sure she was safe warmed her.
“We need a fire before you catch a chill,” he growled as he looked down at the fireplace.
Her teeth still chattering, Sophie offered up the starter clutched in her hand. With a grunt of irritation, he snatched the flint out of her fingers and busied himself with making a fire. She quickly stepped aside and moved to the middle of the room. Quentin’s coat had warmed her a great deal, but she was still shivering as she watched him work.
One knee pressed into the stone hearth, he bent forward to arrange several pieces of wood in the fireplace. There was a suppressed strength about him that she was certain could be destructive or protective depending on his mood. With each movement of his arm as he picked up another piece of wood, the linen shirt he wore stretched taut against his back. Her eyes drifted down to where his riding breeches hugged his buttocks. He was beautiful.
Hypnotized, she noted the sleek, muscular build of his thighs as he leaned into the fireplace and blew gently on the small flame he’d created. His dark hair was wet from the downpour, and she wanted a towel to dry it so she could slide her fingers through it like she had yesterday. A deep ache suddenly pushed its way into her conscious mind. It drew her belly up tight then slowly spiraled downward until it settled in the apex of her thighs.
She wanted to see him naked.

Brody Huxley closed the file drawer and turned back to his desk. Midday sun streamed into the office through the big windows and highlighted the well-worn furniture in the old building. Customers rarely came to the location. The part-time help would be in after lunch, but Brody didn’t mind manning the place solo.
In the quiet moments alone he knew something was missing. The pinch in his knee reminded him of all the things he’d put in the past. He was haunted by the memory of the fighting overseas and an IED that had exploded close to him and his best friend, Sean Morgan. His knee had been replaced, but the muscle and tendon damage seized up occasionally, causing him pain. His fighting days were behind him, but at twenty-seven, his life wasn’t over yet.
As usual, Sean had been right. A desk job had been the safe bet considering Brody’s knee. Pride was something he’d had to let go of back in rehab when he’d fallen for a sexy physical therapist who could knock Brody over with a smile. Needing a little help hadn’t killed him, but when Sean had wanted her as well, things had become complicated.
Kat Calvino had made Brody and Sean work hard to regain their independence. She’d also solved their dilemma by laying down her law of never dating patients. Six months out of rehab and Brody was still hung up on the raven-haired woman nearly ten years older than him.
Behind the desk, Brody dispatched a couple of handymen to new jobs. Sean and his father owned a small construction company that operated a handyman service on the side. In the winter they added snow removal service since construction slowed way down around Chicago. The routine was good, but today something nagged at Brody until he opened the Internet and went to the site for the Fantasy Castle.
Sean walked in and plopped in the guest chair. "I’m done for the morning. Want to grab lunch?"
"Sure." Brody glanced at Sean’s arm. He wore short sleeves and didn’t think twice about the ugly scars trailing up and down his arm. Multiple fractures had meant pins and surgeries for him too.
"What are you staring at? Found naughty pictures of Kat on a website?" Sean rounded the desk eagerly.
Sean wasn’t over Kat either but when neither of you won, did it matter? As much as they’d tempted her to break that rule about dating patients, she was a professional. At thirty-six, she wasn’t playing hard-to-get. She knew what worked for her. All the more reason he admired her.
"Fantasy Castle? What’s that? Some sort of kinky amusement park?" Sean asked.
"No. It’s a resort. You can nominate people who do charitable stuff and good things for others. They get a fantasy week in this castle, if selected." Brody had stumbled on to it trying to find a way to repay Kat. He knew Sean would see right through the plan, but doing something for her felt right. Flowers or some other little trinket wouldn’t be nearly enough for what she did for the waves of injured soldiers coming home.
"If you want to get in touch with Kat, call her. We’ve got her cell number. We haven’t been her patients for months." Sean downplayed his interest, but Brody knew better.
"This isn’t about trying to date her. She gave us that number if we needed a little refresher rehab. Physical therapist is her job, but she doesn’t have to work with the military. She didn’t have to help us through it all beyond the physical injuries." Brody began filling in the form. Kat took care of most of the men like they were her brothers…but their spark was different. Brody could tell she felt something more for him and Sean. She’d had to fight it.
"Fine, so you want her to win a nice vacation. I’m in. What do we need to do?" Sean leaned over and read the requirements. "Four testimonials. I’ll call a couple of the guys. We can write up ours and send them in. Just don’t get your hopes up."
Brody shrugged. "She deserves it. A thank you card won’t cut it."
"If she comes around, we share." Sean held out his fist.
Brody bumped it. They’d never fall out or fight. That pact had been made when they were both pursuing her. Kat was special. They’d tried to get out and date since, but no one felt right. Women their age were either repulsed or turned on by their scars and military service. Most didn’t fully grasp how deep the damage went.

A handsome African-American man strolled onto the stage and introduced himself.
“For those who don't know who I am, my name's LaSalle Cox.” He cracked a joke. “I did get hosed on American Idol, but that's cool. I'll make it without them.”
LaSalle caught the attention of Keli Ann, whose knees buckled together at the sound of his baritone voice. “I'd love to have that hunk between my legs.” Her pussy turned wet and her sexy meter sounded off.
He allowed the musician to warm up their instruments for a few minutes, and then asked the audience to be sympathetic. “I'm not at the level of Ruben Studdard yet, but please don't boo me.”
“This guy begs like Keith Sweat,” Keli Ann said to herself. She sucked on the chipped ice of her coke and was curious to hear the man's voice.

After another hour of sharing a horse with Braxton, Hope was almost ready to scream. Every sway of the horse set her on edge. Every time he stumbled or hopped over a gully had her groin pressed tighter against Braxton’s hard length.
She wanted to turn around, to watch where they were going, but Braxton didn’t seem inclined to let her go and she was tired of arguing. If he wanted to hold her like this and torture them both, she would help him.
With a secret smile she hid against his chest, Hope snuggled closer, lifted her legs and wrapped them around him. If they insisted on playing this game, Hope was determined to play it to the max.
Braxton groaned when the heat of her nether parts rested against his cock. She almost giggled when it throbbed beneath her until he leaned forward to whisper in her ear.
“You’re playing with fire, baby.”
His words sent shivers through her. When was the last time anyone had called her baby in such a sexy tone of voice? Hope wasn’t sure anyone ever had. Bob certainly hadn’t. Her ex’s voice had been more whiney than sexy at any given time. The thought made her frown. Why hadn’t she noticed that before?
Deciding to take a giant leap, Hope leaned forward and pulled his earlobe into her mouth. “I’m counting on it,” she whispered in his ear. If they really wanted to share her, they could start right now as far as she was concerned. It wasn’t as though she could get pregnant. However, the thought of disease scared her, and she didn’t think they would own up to the fact that they were human and agree to use a condom.
With the decidedly strange direction her life had gone over the last few hours, Hope resolved herself to the fact that, for whatever reason, these two hot men had kidnapped her. They could make things pleasant for her or unpleasant. Since she couldn’t stop herself from imagining them all in bed together, she hoped they meant to make things pleasant. Who knows? She might just enjoy herself. How many times had she lain in bed, alone, wishing for some handsome man to sweep her off her feet since Bob left? Here she was with two. She was living the fantasy. What was wrong with grabbing onto the proverbial brass ring for once?
She closed her eyes with a sigh, finally giving in to the impulse to be spontaneous for once in her life. Just this once she wouldn’t be Hopeful Ackerman, prude. Just this once, she would step up and do the wild thing. Literally.
Braxton groaned when she stuck her tongue in his ear. She smiled, thinking of all the ways she could drive him wild before they reached town and before he could find a place where they could be alone.
Her eyes widened then closed when he reached beneath her skirt to press his thumb against her clit. Arrows of delight shot straight to her womb. Her nipples drew tighter as they rubbed against his hard chest and she bit her lip, reaching for her second orgasm on horseback today.
One thing was certain, if they weren’t as old as they claimed, they had the patience of men who were ancient when it came to self-gratification. As far as she knew, neither of them had a release yet today and now, she thought as she screamed against Braxton’s muscular chest, she’d had two in the last couple of hours. On horseback no less!
After her second release of the day, Hope reached between them and freed Braxton from the confines of his jeans. She didn’t know what she planned. She only knew she had the most urgent need to give as good as she got.
Wrapping her fist around his hard shaft, she moved her hand up and down its smooth length. This was what had been missing in her life. This spontaneity. Bob never would have made her come outside. Hell, she could barely get him to do it in the bedroom.
“I shouldn’t do this.” Braxton closed his eyes and took several deep breaths. “Hell, two of my friends have just been murdered and all I can think of is how long will it be before I can sheathe myself within your tight cunt.”
Hope moaned as he breathed the words in her ear. She loved it when a man talked dirty to her as they made love. Something about it turned her on more than she’d thought possible. It was another first. A small giggle escaped when she thought of that.
“What’s so funny, love?”
“I just realized something.” She moaned when Braxton stuck his tongue in her ear. “I have had more sexual firsts in the last few hours than I had in my entire marriage.” She shivered when his expert lips trailed from her ear to move down over her throat. “I suppose that should have told me something, but how can you miss what you have never had?”
“There are going to be a lot of firsts with us, baby.” Braxton grasped her by the waist, picked her up, and brought her breast to his greedy mouth.
Hope gasped. She wrapped her arms around his neck, cupped the back of his head and held him to her. It wasn’t until he reached between them, broke the scrap of material between her legs, and lowered her down over his massive hard-on, that she realized what he’d had in mind.

Chapter One
Bliss Drake stood in the center of the massive store, filled with torture devices for normal people who didn’t understand computers and the rectangular, plastic creatures that tormented them. Her pulse raced and her head was pounding.
How the hell was she gonna figure out which box of bits and bytes she needed to fix her problem when she had no idea what her problem was?
“Can I help you, Miss?”
Bliss turned to find an extremely tall, very good looking young man looking at her. He had thick, dark hair, cut military short, bright green eyes, and a square chin with a dimple in it that made her mouth water.
Sensual awareness jolted through her, causing a twinge between her thighs that she recognized all too well.
Booty call.
She couldn’t believe she was even thinking of sex in that house of horrors. Doing an internal head shake, she smiled. “Oh thank god! Yes!” His bright, green eyes sparkled from behind wire-rimmed glasses as she threw herself at him and enveloped him in an impetuous hug.
“I was just about to fling myself through one of these glass cases and end my misery.”
He laughed, the sound rolling over her like warm water and leaving behind a soft flush of pleasure on her skin. If Bliss had been seriously considering ending it all via display case that laugh would have probably talked her out of it. “Let’s see if we can get you fixed up so you don’t need to break any glass and put holes in that pretty skin of yours, shall we?”
“That sounds good. I have plans for the weekend anyway, so self-mutilation is probably not a good idea.”
Some of the laughter left his sexy eyes. “Big date?”
Bliss shook her head, “Just going to Southern Indiana to do some antique shopping. I feel the need to get away.”
“All by yourself?”
Bliss’ smile was wry. “Trust me, in the mood I’m in that’s the best way to be right now.”
He tilted his head, “Feeling stressed and depressed?”
Bliss laughed for the first time in days. When his smile widened the effects went straight south, her panties dampened and her body gave a familiar little twang, recognizing him as a potential mate. It was a feeling she’d learned to respect. “Something like that.”
He stared at her for a moment longer, but when she didn’t elaborate he nodded. “Well, at least I can help you with your software woes. What problem are we trying to solve?”
Bliss groaned. “My thingy stopped working and I can’t up my load.”
He rolled his lips. “That sounds serious. Have you called a doctor?”
She snorted. “Har! No really, I need to be able to access my email and get to my chat groups…this is seriously dire!”
Strong, white teeth came out to nibble on a sexy lower lip as he tried hard not to laugh at her. “Chat groups, eh. Maybe we should notify the Federal Communications Commission.”
Bliss didn’t laugh. “If that’s what it takes.”
“Hmmm, I see this is serious. Okay, tell me what kind of computer you have.”
“Well, it’s rectangular and black.”
The tall, attractive salesman gave up trying to hide his ever-ready smile. “That certainly narrows it down. I assume this bad boy has a lid versus standing upright on the floor.”
“That is correct.”
He nodded, placing a hand on her shoulder to lead her toward a shelf a few aisles away. “We’re narrowing in on it. Another five, maybe ten years and I should be able to ID the problem.”
Bliss gave him a frustrated sigh. “I don’t know squat about these things. I’m a victim of my generation, we didn’t grow up on bits and bytes you know.”
“Okay, Gramma Moses…”
Bliss cocked an eyebrow at him.
“What type of operating system does this rectangular black monster with a lid run under?”
“Umm… Electricity?”
It was his turn to sigh. “This might take longer than I first suspected.”
“Good thing you get paid by the hour.”
He laughed. “I wish. If I did I’d be a millionaire.”
“Wait! You don’t work here?”
