PAID IN FULL by Megan Slayer

PAID IN FULL by Megan Slayer

Ever danced with the Devil? I have...

You know how people make deals with God? I made one with the Devil. For what you ask? A boyfriend.

Little did I know, the Devil would not only take me up on the deal, but make it worth both our whiles -- just not in the way I'd imagined.

Turns out, nothing in my world is what it seemed.

I massaged my temples. Someone stood outside my apartment door thumping away. If it was the neighbors again, fucking in the hallways... I'd like to say I'd scream, but I'd probably stand there and watch. I mean, Adam and Alex are the two hottest men I can think of.

Part of me wanted to leave them alone. The other part dangling between my legs wanted to watch. Oh, what the hell.

I opened the door. "Holy Christ."

"Not Christ. Not by a long shot." The Devil stood at my door, arms folded and thick black hair waving in the breeze. I shivered and he inclined his head. Not a red-skinned half man, half beast like I'd envisioned. Nope. This Devil was handsome. A little taller than me, just like I liked, and filled out with muscle.

He crinkled his brow. "You know why I'm here. Turn around with your hands on the wall. Pay up."

Alex and Adam swore the Devil would come for me. They said engaging in our threesomes was deliciously devious and sexy. How in the hell was I to complain or say no? Right. I didn't. Every Friday I went to their apartment, and we did anything and everything to each other. Now the Devil wanted in? Sure. Wonder if Alex and Adam would want in?

"Excuse me." The Devil tipped my chin, forcing me to look him in the eye. "You owe me. You don't think I'd sit back and watch you fuck two of my best minions without getting in the middle, do you, Nicky?"

"No." I didn't. I knew he'd come calling... but wait. Alex and Adam were minions? That made more sense. They probably saw it as their calling to entice me. Oh, well. I liked being enticed.

"Turn around and give me what I want." His voice wasn't a roar, but I felt the insistence just the same.

I complied and stifled the grin. I knew damn well what he wanted -- my ass, all for his pleasure. Worked for me. I wanted it as hard and fast as he'd give it. I popped the button on my pants, then flattened my hands on the hallway wall.

"We could go into my apartment," I offered. I'm good at being bad, but sometimes bad can get you arrested. "Or won't the neighbors see?"

"Let me worry about them."

The next sound I heard was the tearing of denim. The shriek of fabric ripping split the air. Damn it. I liked those jeans, too. A whoosh of cool air caressed my bare ass. I spread my legs and wriggled my butt. My asshole puckered and my nerve endings tingled. Shit. I wanted this fuck more than I'd realized.

The Devil spread his hand over mine. His warm breath tickled my ear. He massaged my bare rump with his free hand. "You like dancing with the Devil?"

"Yeah." I closed my eyes and gasped for air. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't breathe.

"What do you want for your trouble?" He speared one finger into my ass.

I grunted at the burn from his invasion and bore down on him. "Love." I didn't have to think, just feel.
"Is that all?" He stroked me from within, curling his finger and massaging my prostate.

I rode his finger and moaned. Earlier I had cared who might catch us. Now? The entire world could've been standing there, and I wouldn't have noticed. My balls tingled. Maybe I did want the world to watch.

"More," I panted.

NECROMANCER & CO. by David Stroup

NECROMANCER & CO. by David Stroup

In the city of Sylian Tul, licensed necromancer Ander Waeryn has his hands full.

His wife's family -- one of the most powerful of the ancient Armiger clans -- just want their wayward daughter to come to her senses and return to the family estate. As an Aelf, Ander isn’t even supposed to have been allowed to study magic, much less a dodgy specialty like necromancy. And it’s harder every day to make a living in the slums of the soot-stained, steam-powered capital of the human-run empire.

Then his latest paying commission goes horribly wrong, and suddenly the Metropolitan Investigation Office’s only Consulting Necromancer is in the middle of a case that has the city ready to boil over. As mobs take to the streets and the city’s press -- led by Ander's ex-lover -- fan the flames, Ander is torn between an investigation the police won’t allow to proceed ... and a horror from the past that shouldn’t exist.

EXCERPT:

A strange, low rattling had been added to the constant dripping of the water from above; I looked around but couldn’t identify the source. The smoke of the incense, I saw, wasn’t dispersing the way it should ... now it was pooling on the rough wood floor like a ground-fog out on the riverbanks.

“Where is the key, Geb?” Hurst asked. “The key to the north cabinet?”

The corpse on the gurney took in a great wracking breath and began to talk.

“You ... Kylen ... not ...”

“Geb, damn it, where’s the key to the north cabinet in the warehouse?”

“Kylen ... can’t ... get away, Kylen, get ...”

Something was wrong. V’Marnion was non-responsive to the questioning -- the shade shouldn’t be able to do anything but answer direct queries, and I didn’t like the sound of what he was saying. I heard a choking sound behind me, and turned to see Llan vomiting against the wall ... VourJalledionne looked terrified. Whindle had pulled a wicked-looking smallsword from under his coat -- some ugly eastern design with a blue-black blade -- and Hurst was edging over the circle of chalk.

“Llan? Llan, are you all right?”

“I -- huk -- gimme a min’ --”

The air was bad, but it was far more than that. Was it something I had done? Over the next few days I would ask myself that question many times ... and be asked it by others. But I couldn’t think of any error I could have made that could have produced an effect like this ...

“Mister Hurst -- stay back --”

The rattling sound was mounting... there was so much else going on in the room I couldn’t pin it down. The air had dropped another ten degrees in the last few seconds. I made a decision.

“VourJalledionne -- get out!” I yelled. Whindle, dimly seen across the foggy room, was stabbing at phantoms with his short sword ... Hurst, one foot over the line of my thaumatic circle, was having second thoughts.

The circle was broken; with the perfect integrity of the magik sigil violated, the thaumatic field should have been dispersing. It wasn’t. I tried to release the reins of power mentally, and nothing happened.

I glanced at the door again -- VourJalledionne was leaning against it, pale, unmoving.

“Get everyone out of here, Llan,” I said. “And I mean fast ... see if there’s anyone else in the building as well.”

I had located the source of the rattling ... every corpse in the room was twitching convulsively, shaking on their wooden gurneys.

~Excerpt~

“One thing at a time. First let me introduce myself.” It was a reassuringly normal man, and he looked like one, too—tall, old with wise brown eyes and white hair. “I’m Sallas, your host.” He bowed deeply.

“And I am—”

“Oh, no need to introduce yourself. I know all about you, M’sieur Laurent De Berger, and I must congratulate you on having succeeded.”

“In what?”

“Why, in summoning the demon world. Wasn’t that what you were trying to do?” The piercing eyes gave him a thorough inspection. “And you’re one of the very few who actually managed it.”

“Then it’s true?” Not believing his ears, Laurent glanced around and unfortunately caught another horrifying sight that left no doubts to the authenticity of the words.

Next to the pile of skinned alive, there was a line-up of low wooden benches with a series of men in front of them. On top of the stands, horned midget-like critters no taller than Laurent’s waist were practicing expert blowjobs, judging from the results, on cocks that at first refused to react. But such must’ve been the tiny rascals power of persuasion, Laurent soon saw them grow into thick erections holding up on their own. At that point, the midgets scuttled away. In their place, huge beasts swung large fiery red bladed axes over the innocent dicks, cutting them off with single blows. Blood spurted everywhere as the men seemed to shout in pain and anger, though none of it reached Laurent, save the sight of their bodies sagging to the floor like balloons deflated too fast. Once to the ground, the men were either finished off by a series of other hits or pushed aside, still agonizing for life, depending on the executioners’ whim. Either way, a fresh batch that would suffer the same fate replaced the mutilated ones.

“Yes, this is our world and you’re very welcome here, M’sieur.” With another elaborate show of it, Sallas bowed low for the second time.

“But…those people over there…” Uncertain, he gestured at the heap of corpses littering the hardboard floor and covering it with smeary bloody red streaks.

“Those are the stupid fools who think they can use Halloween to their advantage.” He chuckled sarcastic. “Their plan is usually to enslave a demon until he reveals the secret of long life or surrenders his power, not knowing there are right and wrong ways to go about it.”

“But it’s too high a price to pay even for stupidity…” Laurent’s horrified gaze didn’t know where to look now.

“Don’t feel sorry for them. You don’t know to what lengths some people will go to get what they want,” Sallas retorted philosophically. “If their ends justify their means, like they claim, then so do ours, and nothing’s too bad for them, not even what my friends over there are about to do.”
